Sure, but it’s what the people by and large demand. We *could* address it by taxing land rents, making housing cheaper, and cars unnecessary for day-to-day life. That would put about $20k/year that they’re currently spending back in people’s pockets.
But people would rather keep the mcmansions and high prices because some day they may be able to own one and hold the next generation for ransom.
