>He will tell voters that “rough sleeping was all but eradicated” by the last Labour government and will pledge to “condemn the scandal of rough sleeping to history, not just for a short time but for all time”.
Well that’s BS for a start.

Wonder why he never did that before?
Oh yea there’s an election.
He’s going to find them a warm and dry place to stay, or just move them somewhere else?
I chatted a lot with a homeless guy living down my place because he wasn’t good in English but we both spoke a common language and he explained that when the weather permits it he much prefers to sleep outside than in the shelters since they’re dangerous places.
He was saying most of the time it’s a choice rather than a necessity.
I know how he will do it at no cost at all.
Simple redefine “homelessness”.
Easier said than done.
I’ve spoken to homeless people who explained as ex addicts they would sooner reject housing offers in areas where drugs are rife (which is common in council allocated housing) — to avoid being tempted into relapsing. People like that value their sobriety over a roof.
These kinds of unattainable promises really make me doubt the credibility of a politician…that said, SK gets my vote as the most likely alternative is a totally unhinged person and any vote other than SK is effectively a vote for Susan
He’s going to resolve all societal problems that create the big holes that people fall through? Every single person will be enriched and be cared for, checked in on when they have mental health issues and guided through every scenario of difficulty that could end in homelessness? Each step of the way through life help will be available for those who need it. People will be educated and inspired and free access to bank accounts, identification, legal representation and temporary housing during unrest on economic decline will be concreted into the very fabric of society? Nobody will endure being homeless anymore, now or in future, ever again? Yeah exactly, your not going to do all that so fuck off you lying cunt.
You e got a choice, khan who won’t completely eradicate homelessness, or Susan hall, running on a “fuck the poor” manifesto.
I think we’d all like better than khan, but hall is not it.
He’s had 8 years to do it. He clearly doesn’t actually care, it’s just politicians making empty promises as they always do.
He’s not getting my vote no matter his fake promises.
Growing up I had lots of volunteers for the church stay in my family home. They all started out wanting to fix all my towns homeless. After 6 months they realised they were all homeless by choice.
Anyone that wants a roof over there head in this country can typically get one. If you want to eliminate homelessness, then make rough sleeping illegal and lock them up in a warm, dry, food provided prison or mental health hospital.
Gonna contract one of his friends companies to assassinate them all 😂
Eliminate as in solve…..?
Or eliminate as is lock up homeless people….?
Dont get me wrong Khan is no tory but you have check these days
What always baffles me is homelessness in the most expensive city in the country. Surely outside of London it would be easier to get a place to sleep since they’d be less expensive
Surely the homeless have enough problems without having to avoid roaming death-squads.
I assume this is what he meant…y’know….’Tories’ & ‘eliminate rough sleeping once and for all’ ??? …Its a reasonable assumpition….right?
Is it woke if Sadiq moves the tenters on, as Suella advised?
By arresting them and charging them £2000 (which they obviously can’t afford) just for being smelly, like the SNP (in a ridiculous and inhumane plan which is doomed to fail not just as a measure to reduce homelessness but also many more already suffering people), or by actually tackling the issue at its roots, providing shelter, water and employing people to improve their mental health and put them on the right track?
Of course they’d all need affordable housing, but there are waiting lists of more than 3 years in certain areas for social accommodation. We need more housing. What’s his plan?
There aren’t that many jobs available for unskilled workers which many (not all) homeless people are, so they’ll need free adult education. What’s his plan there?
Or is it just some fluff to try getting votes?
Maybe it’s because half the social housing is being given to people immigrating to the county
By shopping then out of London to somewhere shittier.
The big thing here is that rough sleeping is distinguished from homelessness. Both London and the remainder of England has a really horrifying problem with homelessness: rough sleeping is just the visible manifestation of this. Pledging to end “rough sleeping” is meaningless. Rough sleeping will never be addressed until actual homelessness (sofa-surfing, overcrowding, living in accommodation unfit for human habitation, etc) is solved. “Eliminating rough sleeping” is only ever going to be sweeping things under the carpet.
Just send them to Rwanda when no rough sleeping. His logic probs.
It will never get better till there’s an insane amount of new housing that’s cheap, house prices plummet and the entire economy isn’t based on housing. It’s a worldwide problem and there’s no solution but to make housing cheap
By buying them a one way ticket to Liverpool or something most likely. Sad state of affairs.
Never gonna happen. I’ve worked with rough sleepers before and also been one of em’. You can house a lot of them and they’ll just get on with their lives. A % of them though, will never be able to hold into their tenancies, because of behavioral issues. Some of them have so much drama in their lives, that it’s almost as if they need it to some degree.
Why don’t they put them in hotels like the illegals
I wonder how he’ll do that oh yeah he’ll just make it harder to see them
“If I make it so that nobody at all can afford housing then they’ll all be homeless and it will seem normal and maybe they’ll all stop complaining about it” – Sunak probably
