  4. Mark Cuban didn’t grow up rich. As a kid, he sold stamps door-to-door and even reportedly offered disco lessons to help pay his way through college. But by 40, he became a billionaire after selling his video portal Broadcast.com to Yahoo for $5.7 billion.

  5. All I know is he was one of, if not the best NBA owners I’ve ever seen. Some rich guys buy a sports team as an expensive toy, Mark Cuban was his own teams #1 fan.
    Built them up and won the franchise a championship too.

  9. He should be ashamed making that much money….nothing to be proud of when minimum wage is $7.25 an hour or $15K a year before taxes working full time.

  12. To be fair, Mark Cuban does not exactly make a real salary. His income is mostly through capital gains and investments so the tax on that is what? Maybe 20% as opposed to 40% or so if it was an actual salary? I like the guy though. He has been interviewed a few times in the last 2 years on my company’s podcasts.

  14. People praising him are idiots. He could not possibly find an accountant or lawyer to get him out of paying capital gains taxes.

    The 20% long term capital gains rate on his $1+Billion sale of majority stake in the Mavericks is less than most middle and upper middle class citizens pay on their income taxes.

    Don’t let this obscene number fool you. The truly obscene number is how much he fucking made and how low of a rate he’s allowed to pay because it’s capital gains and not income…

  16. Tbh, paying that much in taxes displays your level of running a successful business and displays your level of generating income.

    Furthermore, it displays your personal integrity and morals.
