3. This is why I say charity is a selfish choice that benefits those less fortunate. Kindness is a personal cost exercise that will benefit those around you.

   For those who have nothing, it is easier to be kind, because you have less to give. For those that have everything, it is harder to be kind, as you could find yourself back with nothing quickly if you don’t self-regulate your kindness.

   Anyone preying on a kind person will drain them dry until resentful, then blame them for their lack of kindness.

   To be kind is to be strong. To be selfish is to be weak as you just need to care about your own life.

   Many people struggle with the idea of kindness in a sea of people who will abuse you. Self-advocacy does not require hateful or unkind speech. It simply is reminding people that you are being kind not for the outcome of being thought of as kind, but as drew said, because it’s the right thing to do.

   So many cultures, religions and self-help books work on this premise, but at the end of the day, many people should work on being proactively kind to themselves and others, rather than grabbing as much from the plate of life before others take it all and leave you with nothing.
