  1. They’re 10000% right though.

They’ll promise you the sun, moon and stars before they actually try building fucking houses.

How about another tax break for developers minister? Completely out of ideas and completely beholden to an ideology that does not deliver.

  2. Would be handy if you could just filter out anything to do with housing from your feed

  3. We can only process one issue at a time! we can’t seem to get people to consider how ‘just’ housing is a solution. where I live we are crying out for them to stop building houses. all the people who move into them will not a have a hope of getting to a doctor in the ton, put their kids in school, heck have any services whatsoever for them.

  4. Ah , ye can’t beat nuanced and succinct political commentary 😄

  5. A poll of this sub showed that most people are earning minimum wage.

Even if they build more houses, you still won’t be able to afford them.

We need to build more 1 bed apartment blocks for the single people who want to buy a 3 bed house.

  6. To be fair, tax cuts are sort of a joke when people keep complaining how poor services are in this country. It’s the classic wanting European Services and American Taxes at the same time.

  7. The problem is t just housing – it’s housing AND all the wraparound services.

Most new housing estates are 50% private, 25% affordable and 25% social housing. (THAT’S where these evil developer subsidies are going by the way, to build affordable and social housing)

But the social housing needs wraparound supports. You can’t just give 150 recovering addicts the keys to their new apartment and be like “well best of luck with it all!”

You also need GPs, a dentist, a crèche, all these things.

  8. Funny thing is last night on RTE news at 9, Meehole Martin was claiming FF are the party of action on housing.

Only way it be true is if they were snails.

  9. More r/Ireland genius. housing is all we need; just wave the wand and make it happen! The fact that our public sector and quangos are diabolically inefficient should in no way make us think twice about setting up another potentially massive quango to build housing. The fact that we have very high income taxes that were supposed to be temporary shouldn’t enter into people’s thought processes and of course we have no issues in managing crime, managing our cities better, public transportation etc.
