  1. That’s why this week is different. This, finally, is a court of criminal law. There will be facts submitted for the record. There will be testimony, under oath. And eventually, in an estimated six weeks or so, there will be a verdict from a jury of Trump’s peers

    I don’t believe that they’ll be able to pick a jury of truly unbiased people. No matter what evidence is presented, there will be at least *one* holdout who ruins things.

  8. He’s not going to get any jail time, he might even be acquitted. However if the jury finds him guilty and the punishment is community service. That’s enough for me. That’s how low of a bar I’m setting this so I don’t get disappointed.

    I was so happy when he was charged in four different states but the process of getting him convinced turned out to be a tall order.

    If we had to look at one good thing about Trump, is the big f*cken light he has shined at our flawed and broken judicial system. Money clearly impacts the outcome in one’s favor. And just like the drug war, the government can’t even compete anymore.

    Trump broke it already, there is no turning back, I can see every drug lord, mob boss, and CEO taking notes. Delay delay delay, you just have to out spend them.

    Good luck finding anyone who has never left a comment about Trump on social media.

    Overall if our elected officials have not thought about reforming our judicial system, then we’re going to be in a world of hurt.

  11. He will appeal every comma, period, and exclamation point. He will file appeals and lawsuits in the middle of the proceedings.

  14. America doest want to convict Trump- they’d have done so long ago but the system is broken – morals ago out the door when it comes to crossing party lines. Trump is a cockroach and the USA will let him scurry away again

  15. Unless a corrupt court system completely fails, which actually has a pretty high chance of happening, it’s just procedural. Someone else already went to prison based on the same charge and there’s ample evidence as to how it happened, who was paid, how and even how it was covered up to appear as payment for legitimate reasons…

  18. Sadly it means nothing if he is allowed to run for office again. I am hoping for a good outcome for our country but so far he has weaseled his way out of any substantial repercussions. Lock him & his coconspirators up asap and throw away the key. I am deeply concerned it will be too late. Justice delayed is justice denied.

  21. It’s already a first in US history. An ex-President of the United States of America is on trial for crimes he committed to become president. Only history will give the proper weight to this moment as Right wing media try to spin it.

  22. He’ll still be able to run for president and will never see a second inside of a prison cell. These cowardly judges will allow him to stay out of prison while he appeals. Don’t forget that rich people (even fake paper-rich people like Trump) don’t get the same punishment as you or me.

  25. Am I just not seeing it, or does this article neglect to mention *which* charges Trump is facing in this particular trial?

    He’s buried under so many cases now it’s hard to keep track of which are currently relevant, so that feels like the base information I’d expect in a piece like this?
