  1. They should ask to the Danish because they have been paying more than that for quite a while without any issues

  2. All the whiny uber rich need to do is learn to budget and trickle down a few drops.

Studies have repeatedly shown that even small, incremental wage increases cause some jobs to be lost.

So this wage increase, from $16/hr to $20/hr, could be quite different and more destructive, than those.

  4. The wages there aren’t matters, it’s the wages everywhere else. They’re asking on indeed for bachelor level jobs 20 to 30 an hour, when you can go to another state and get the same wage with half the COL.

  5. It will certainly cut jobs and raise prices. It’s just common sense. I mean, these are mostly small franchise owners with minimal profit margins. They aren’t just going to keep running their existing model as some sort of benevolent donation to the government of California.

  6. What a new concept. Make everything more expensive, and deny any consequences. California should try it out once and let us know how it goes.

  7. Yeah but people are really bad at math and business 101, so they believe anything the oligarch owned media puts out.

  8. I literally met people who have been working low level jobs as a mechanic and in medical for decades… who earn less than this.

Meaning they’ve been strategically underpaid for a very long time.

Yeah, this was in California too.

  9. It’s already caused job cuts, for example the massive layoffs of Pizza Hut delivery drivers.

I’m currently in the Bay Area in CA, and I noticed one McDonald’s was recently remodeled to remove the cashiers inside–it *only* has touch-screen ordering. The only cashier that takes orders is for the drive-thru. And then I found a nearby Carl’s Jr that had a computer-generated voice for taking orders in the drive-thru.
