My problem with farm shops is that they are just so expensive. We regularly go to the one at Penshaw Monument but jesus it’s so easy to drop £70 by the time you’ve bought a couple of things at the butcher, the baker, then a lunch at the cafe.
It’s all good quality stuff though. I just think there’s a middle ground to be had on pricing.
Maybe the cooperative idea would bring prices down?
Sort of a victim of his success, the farm shop causes loads of traffic for an area that’s not set up for it. Can see why it got turned down.
Hopefully they can find a compromise and a traffic plan or something that works
So a surprising outcome is that local farmers support the opportunity to put commercial development on their farms, so far, so predictable. Maybe a restaurant would give them the chance to sell their stuff, but why not in the towns and villages where the infrastructure is in place to support it?
I’m not surprised as he is a major figure and can easily cause a backlog of traffic. If Clarkson wasn’t directly involved and opened it in a way that didn’t exactly advertise his involvement. I don’t think May has the same issue with his pub but knowing him, he somehow ended up putting the location 200 miles away.

That said, if it’s a community thing, Clarkson could look into a way of being involved in a behind the scenes manner if there is a high risk of traffic occuring.
Where does supermarket food come from then farms obviously so not much difference is there
Give Jeremy his restaurant and let the Ledburys provide the dairy products for said restaurant!!
