  1. There are poor fishermen all over the world and yet no one else buries sharks for a year and then eats their rotting flesh mate

  2. We invented sandwiches, and thus, all variants of the sandwich (Hamburgers Tacos hotdogs, ect) are actually british food 💪😎 (plus we actually have some of the spicest curry in world in the form of Phall

  3. Indian curry’s are part of the UK’s cuisine though? We have invented curry’s in the U.K. based on Indian spices.

  4. i love this ‘conqered the world for spices’ as people genuinely believe it, yes we did conquer countries and take control of their spices, but it was only to sell on to make big money, old jack working in the cotton mills in the industrial north never saw paprika or tumeric in his life and never would, which is why none of our cuisine uses spices

  5. We didn’t conquer the world for spice. Pay attention, we did it for tea.

The Netherlands did it for spice.

  6. Ngl I kinda liked Icelandic food. They’ve got some great hotdogs, the horse meat and mutton was great too, and even the Hakarl wasn’t that bad. Then again, our national dish is a large pile of orange slop so what do I know.

  7. Hákarl & Chips, drenched in vinegar. Worst of both worlds.

  8. Where’s the Swedish guy who comments with the meme about this sub posting the same joke over and over?

  9. Hey!

We conquered the world for money, spices were just a means to that end…

  10. I have been in Iceland this year there and I can say a few things about their food:

    – The best cod I ever had (sorry Joao). The fish there tastes 10/10.

    – The lamb was good, not the best I had but very good. The horse tasted good too.

    – All food I had was good. No complains at all. Better than many European countries I have been.

    – The restaurants are very tourism focused, hard to find regular restaurants.

    – Low variety (but it’s a volcanic island with a rough weather, that makes sense).

    – Yeah crazy recipes like the rotten shark. I didn’t touch that shit.

    – Expensive (very expensive for a Spaniard) but the dishes are big enough.

Conclusion: Better than most of the European places I have been. Isn’t a gastronomical paradise, but what they do, they do it right.
Also, IMO UK is not the worst country at cooking, the worst by far is Netherlands.

  11. Where did this idea about conquering the world for spice even come from? We’re not Dutch.

  12. The Brits have a sandwich dish made of bread, bread… and bread. Just three layers of bread.

  13. I made and tried plokkfiskur for the first time a few months ago, it’s an amazing dish.

  14. I thought spice was our thing? Now I feel insulted.

  15. Any country that has “Chip Butty” on the menu cannot be last.

    Check and mate.

  16. Fólk sem kallar íslenskan mat vondan hefur klárlega aldrei fengið sér eina eðal pulsu

  17. Africa and Asia are full of poor fishermen yet they’re able to make edible food, hell even our southern Hermanos are poor and have good fish dishes like just cook bro
