In other words, Woman to be protected from misogyny by misogyny law.
Can’t wait to see what Rowling, Cherry, and every other fucking TERF has to say about this. I’m sure it will be considered and appropriate/s.
Well yeah, Trans women face misogynistic abuse. why wouldn’t they be covered.
Presumably it’ll work like the other hate motivators where you don’t actually have to have the certain characteristic to allow for people that are attacked on the presumption of their membership of a group to be protected.
Based Humza.
Also this will almost certainly be fully approved by the Greens, Lib, Labour, and the odd Tory (probably just jamie green tbh). It’ll be a wide consensus which is neat.
Absolutely right. This does not take away anything from anyone and just ensures vulnerable folks get some protections.
can they do something about the pro life cunts though
Of course. Entirely uncontroversial.
Well done Humza you’ve done the bare minimum for trans people congratulations now how about shortening those wait times for an appointment at NHS gender clinics or is the evil Westminster preventing you from doing that
Going to be a hard sell to the electorate re characters like Isla Bryson.
Good luck.
I feel sorry for the UK and the terrible reporting everyone in the country is subjected to. The reporting on this article is terrible when it starts talking about the Cass report. Other international bodies and orgs are rightly calling it out for being profoundly inadequate. The report dismisses a very large number of studies and evidence, and sets an unethical benchmark that would otherwise exclude three quarters of meds provided in pediatric care if the same standard was upheld for all other meds and treatments. The fact that BBC parrots the Cass report uncritically shows how terrible and low quality their journalism is.
Is anyone in the UK a saxon anymore?
LOL
All of these laws include a “perceived as” clause anyway, eg if you are protestant but someone thought you were catholic and abused you on that basis then they were still being sectarian. There isn’t really another way to write the law. But this will be the next culture war BS I guess – how dare you protect too many people, even the “inferior” ones.
I don’t understand all the hate against Humza – well I do from some, but we know what that’s based on – and his statements here seem consistent, logical and firm. His support for trans people after Sturgeon left was a pleasant surprise against the dreadful backdrop of gathering transphobia, and he’s staying consistent to it. I hope against hope that that he stays on for some time.
So how about trans men? Do they also get to claim mysogyny protection or do they get left in the dust with the rest of the male population?
I mean the clue is in the name trans WOMEN!!
So long as that doesn’t include Beasts trying to claim they have rights to change gender. They deserve no respect or protection
Are females protected by anything specific to only them?
Why is JK Rowling quoted here? She evidently does not understand the laws at all (“I’m going to be jailed for muh tweets!!!!!”), so how is she any kind of expert here?

Everyone should be given the same protection, regardless of gender. There is no reason or justification to exclude trans women, cis women, trans men, cis men, or anyone else.

When I was 19 I was on a late night train on my way back to uni after visiting my parents. A man cornered me in my seat on an otherwise empty carriage and tried to get me to touch his dick. According to JK Rowling this was not misogynistic because I’m trans, even though said pervert didn’t know that. Ridiculous that people think that some women shouldn’t be allowed to fight the sexism they experience alongside other women.
Why’s it being labelled as a misogyny law and not gender hate? Surely making gender based hate crime then covers everyone equally and leave no room for anyone to moan about whether someone is or isn’t a woman as it wouldn’t matter
It’s not a misogyny law then dipshit
All types of people get laws to protect them, unless you’re actually A WOMAN !
Unsurprising. None of the political parties actually care about women’s rights
Humza never knows when he’s in a hole to stop digging.
Hahaha. This will fucking annoy them.
Hahaha. This will fucking annoy them.
Super happy we have all this fuss to protect 60 people.
Nuts
Getting charged for hurting someone’s feelings.. nice
Makes perfect sense. Not even the frothiest of gammon bigots could argue otherwise…but they’ll try.
There is no such thing as a Trans Women, it’s a bloke in a dress FFS 🙄
Is there a provision to protect women who’ve become men from misandry and does that cover all men?
