Ahh, going full vindictive cunt then. No longer even pretending to keep things within the ring.

The Targowica Confederation would be proud of their descendants.

  2. And then they have the nerve to claim that *they* are being black mailed. What a bunch of cunts, veto powers need to be reformed asap. Hungarian elections can’t come soon enough, I can’t wait for those PiS cunts to be left alone without their bodyguard.

  3. The usual xenophobes come out in joy celebrating Poland’s problem with its politicians. They fail to realize the more aggressive PiS becomes the better it is for Poland. The further they go the more certain it becomes they will lose next elections.

Looking at it from the perspective of US citizen and a Pole. I can’t help to be entertained. Seems like a temporary problem that will go away after the election cycle. But the EU is shitting itself anyway. How can EU ever be a world power when they can’t even deal with the rogue government in Poland. US hegemony it is, for the foreseeable future.

  4. I never thought Brexit would happen but here we are. I don’t believe Poland will leave the EU but there is so many people like OP, check his comment history, who’s whole agenda is to push this shit. We all know PiS is horrible, but the Polish people are overwhelmingly pro EU.

  5. Interesting. Poland has been playing very dangerous games lately. [Article 7](http://www.lisbon-treaty.org/wcm/the-lisbon-treaty/treaty-on-european-union-and-comments/title-1-common-provisions/7-article-7.html) of the Lisbon treaty states that a member state can be stripped on its voting rights. It can be voted by a qualifying majority (so Hungary cannot block it alone). EU blocking fundings is, actually, a soft message sent to Poland. The real stuff is the voting rights.

The EU triggering Article 7 would be without precedent (to my knowledge), so I assume that countries willing to go further within this route should make sure to meet this qualifying majority. I would not be surprised if this is what’s being discussed right now behind the scene. Of course this would be an extreme measure.

The EU has no mechanisms to kick a member state out. But it has a mechanism to exclude such member from the decision making part. Which is even better: crazy head of states are temporary, but a country, its set of citizen on the other hand are continuously there. So the rights can be brought back easily whenever the conflict is resolved (and/or a new head of state more aligned with EU values is voted in)

All of that would not be “punishing” as English speaking news outlet like to state. It would be a mere conflict resolution according to a contractual agreement. Nothing more, nothing less.

But in all case, I feel bad for the Poles. Hopefully they remember this episode for the next elections …

  6. Is Poland attempting to take pver the role of the UK in the EU? Being a member country because of the economic advantages but otherwise having little willingness to put up with the rest?

  7. Can someone explain whats wrong with current Poland stance in that matter? As a liberal Pole I hate PiS for many stupid and dangerous moves but when it comes to energy supply we are fucked and blindly going “all green” would make it even worse. As I see many redditors are black and white, wishing to “starve Poland” to force it to go along any shit that EU comes up with. I’m seriously troubled from both eurosceptic poles and antipolish europeans.
