German Chancellor Olaf Scholz says he asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to put pressure on Russia to end invasion as “China’s word carries weight in Russia.”

1. At this point I assume Putin is a puppet for Xi Jing Ping. Just a matter of time till China makes an offer for Russia’s natural gas resources that Putin cannot refuse.

2. Good luck Chancellor Scholtz — China is playing the long game with world domination being the goal, meaning Xi has no incentive to do anything positive for the western democracies of the world. Did you forget this evil guy also murders his own people threatens his neighbors and tells Taiwan: we will be one and we will dominate force you into submission? Look at Hong Kong.

   Long overdue: name China Belligerent and sanction and boycott isolate …..

   Diplomacy, especially Chinese diplomacy is a field where even the finest Nuance in behavior and wording make a Hughe Difference.

10. Why would Xi listen to Scholz?

    EU keeps buying Chinese crap.

    EU keeps exporting to Russia, exporting to China.

    EU keeps selling Russia stuff, albeit throught some Stan countries.

    The EU is funding its own demise. And then we expect China will help us? What are we going to threaten with? A full economic blockade? I dont think so, we want cheap products. And China is taking our money and laughing, as is logical for them to do.

    The EU has done nothing serious to end the war in Ukraine. We have tried to cover it all by saying we needed some more efficiency and needed to work together.

    When the EU says we need to work together they actually mean they expect others to do some lifting. But then nobody does any lifting because everybody is waiting for someone else so nothing happens.

    Now the US pulled out and this happens.

    A lot of us knew this was the risk, Putin knew this was his chance, and he was very open about it. He says it out loud and we said no way. But seems like he was right.

    The only hope is if US plugs the gap of 1 or 2 years until EU really ramps up production. And they’re still discussing whether they should or not, really. Which country has said “blanks checks to anyone who starts a munition factory!”…? This is the mentality that is needed. While all I hear is “Rheinmetall and Dassault need a new plant”. No, one two or three new factories are not going to change the war or keep Europe safe the coming 10 years.

    We’ll see how this ends. The war isn’t over. But the EU and Ukraine are in the worst place since the beginning and its all the European countries fault.

    How about: we won’t tariff some of your vehicles in Germany if you stop aid to Russia before USA sanctions strangle those entities allowing for the aid.
