“It is not clear if any Downing Street staff members have deleted messages, or if the Cabinet Office — the government department that includes 10 Downing Street — has received a Freedom of Information request.”
If they are not sure whether the FOI request was sent, then wouldn’t the solution be to simply send such request?
Well…who would bother to investigate in today’s UK?
How can it be a crime when they are Tories and the Police will not ever investigate them? Laws do not apply to our rulers.
Hmm, better clean up the phones used to send the messages to clean up the phones.
Realistically if it is true this happened then someone will get fined a relatively inconsequential amount of money and the Tories will avoid further details being added to the scandal. It’s absolutely ridiculous but here we are and it’s not the first time.

Deleting material to the process of a potential criminal investigation “may” be a crime?
Sounds like PCOJ to me.
In case no one got that:

Don’t they always say ‘the coverup is worse than the crime’…
It went down a little like this scene from The Wire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFE6SqyXw3s
