  4. I get that Sweden accepted apparently too many immigrants and struggles to integrate them to the society.

    But to burn Quran, or any other religious book, is plain stupid. It causes polarization, unrest, and doesn’t bring any good at all. Then why doing so? Teach people to live together, not to hate „the other ones”.

  13. I am always surprised by the world I live in.

    On one hand, you can’t joke on certain things to avoid hurting a specific group’s feelings, people may lose their job over it, companies can go belly up over a communication mistake, but on the other hand fuck the muslims and the Quran, am I right folks?

    Like, what is the purpose other than pissing off an entire community? What are they trying to achieve? What message do they think this will send?

    I just don’t understand. Is this tolerance à-la-carte? Like, can I choose who to be intolerant with while still labeling myself as tolerant?

  21. Imagine being arrogant enough in the first place to think “we’ll just take in all these people from various different backgrounds and they will change their core beliefs – they’re all so eager to adopt a western mindset and everything will go fine”.

  22. Will they burn a bible too at the same time? How about a Torah? Objectivity this is in poor taste if they’re going only for Muslims, and I know I’d be at least somewhat slightly upset too if someone disrespected my religion and disrespectfully burned a holy tekst.

    P.S. Besides, don’t Muslims have strict rules for how the Quran should be treated and handled? Like not letting it touch a dirty floor and such? And afaik one of the generally accepted ways of disposing of one is by burning it, and then flowing the ashes out into the ocean so it really depends on how they decide to go about this.

    Just I beg don’t be trashy and have some respect for others, even if you disagree with them

  28. Idk, seems like a bad idea to me. Of courser you’re not supposed to kowtow to radical muslims or the reaction that burning a Quran would bring about.

    I don’t really care about someone getting butthurt over the burning of a book, what worries me is again, the response this might evoke from the radical side. A stabbing sometime in the future, vehicular manslaughter, bombing, who knows. I mean what do the perpetrators care about, they are rarely deported and punishment is usually a slap on the wrist w.r.t the crime committed.

    Its ok to burn european racist/xeno books, mock national /european illiberal traditions (killing jews drink or dutch black peter thing) and anything like cause everyone have freedom of speech?

    Just asking next time the far right trump the card “you need to embrace our culture to stay here”.

    Freedom of speech is what makes western “western”?
