It would be cheaper to send all the Ukraine arms it needs immediately instead of drip-feeding it and dragging it out to a war that is only eclipsed by WW2, yet here we are now.
It’s not entirely a question of money. Patriot missiles are amongst the most thinly stretched military supply lines on the planet. Only 500 a year are being manufactured, and they’re already committed to existing orders. Available overstock has already been sent to Ukraine, and how many countries do you think are going to draw down their own defense reserves of a very expensive missile that will take years to replace?
If Ukraine is to defend it’s skies, a less expensive solution than Patriots will have to be found. That’s just how it is.
