So I've been registered in my driving school for over a year now and I didn't manage to finish it in time so now I got this letter from my city and I'm not sure what to do. I want to continue with driving lessons and don't know what to do next.

  1. You didn’t pass the exams within a year of your application for the licence. Therefore the TÜV has returned the application to the city.

They now offer you two options:

    1) You send back the declaration that you withdraw your application. That will cost you nothing.

    2) The city will decline your application formally, which will cost 50€ + processing fees.

In any case, you have to apply again for a driving licence with a new application if you still want to get one.

  2. I am pretty sure if you are enrolled in driving lessons currently they will be happy to asist you with the issue. Take it to your driving school and let thme explain to you what you need to do.

  3. update: (if anyone comes in a similar situation, so you know)

I went to my driving school and paid the 46 € fee to sign up again. My theory classes are still there, I was told that they’re valid for 2 years and I was only a little more than a year over. I had to give up my ID card (was told that I’ll get it back in about 2 weeks), a new picture and Erste Hilfe Kurs Bescheinigung. They already have the Sehtest as I was not given it back the last time (got it confirmed)

As for the letter that I got from the post, I was told to sign it and send it to the Stadt otherwise I’d get fined for it, so I did that right after

Thank you again for everyone’s help, it’s very appreciated <3
