Because we were spoiled by the best ers this club ever had and we are now back into reality of a club with big financial problems, still making doubtful transfer decisions and a young promising team in the build up phase.
No Puyol.. We’ve been shaky in knockouts ever since he retired..
Ouch
Because our players suddenly have very interesting decisions in important games
The entire playing 11 was different but the same result in CL. We lack the elite club mentality when it comes to European football.
As much as I hate to say this, Madrid seems to have this in their DNA. Apart from Kroos Modric most of their playing 11 is different but their relentless attack is the same throughout the years. They never seem to give up even when things don’t go their way.
Except for Roma all of these teams have just been better than us, that’s the first thing. We also used to be a hollow shell of a team and games like the Liverpool and especially Bayern loss anyone could see coming from a mile away. I had Bayern down for 6-0, the only shock was that we scored at all.
Yesterday’s loss is nothing like the rest. Back then we were free falling. Now we have just started climbing back up, and the margins are small enough that one mistake cost us the tie.
Still a big positive that we even reached the quarters, which is as far as we could reasonably expect to go right now. Even stronger when doing it in a season where we have been mostly awful.
And an even bigger positive is that our youngsters proved themselves even against the best players in the world. This time we can bring a lot of positives with us. We could never do that in the other games in your list.
“all European clubs fear real madrid, real madrid fears barca” mindset pretty much, except we don’t even have clasico wins anymore.
Even then, our players will probably show up this weekend in the clasico, a game that real couldn’t give less of a fuck for if they win vs city and since they’ve got such a huge point gap.
As long as they scrape a win against real apparently everything’s alright, I hate that this was the norm for a long time
Many reasons.
An element is that we do not have a leader, group of leaders / that great captain.
Since Puyol, it has not been the same since.
Man Utd have not been the same without Keane.
You cannot consistently, year over year, win without that individual.
The captain brings it all together on the pitch.
Last night was like the Kipling sentiment in “If”… *If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs*
We had nobody of that ilk.
Weak mentality and victim complex starting with Laporta and Xavi
Call me naive but I really don’t think this one is like the others. Araujo definitely had a lapse in judgement and made a bad decision that lost us the tie for sure, but it’s not like the loss was a result of our mentality or lack of will to compete like in recent years. We lost because we played 60 minutes a man down. Unfortunate and yea a horrible play by Araujo, but we were up 4-2 and would have won with 11 men. Almost impossible task to ask the remaining 10 to keep a team like PSG from scoring multiple times over a full hour. Even when down a man, we still had fight and the players looked like they believed they could score to get back in the game. We created chances just couldn’t capitalize. We lost because of a dumb red card not because we faced some adversity and rolled over or gave up like in the past.
Small babies mentality, they got angry when things go wrong and don’t want to play anymore.
We need a strong leader on the field (Captain) and off the field (Manager) to control the implosion which happens when we are under pressure
as long as the club hires small time managers we will get small time results
Because Barca has weak mentality.
Araujo makes an awful mistake and the team collapses.
How can Xavi inject energy and confidence into the team during half time if he is blaming the ref? He then gets a red himself when he is needed the most to support the players.
Xavi is not a coach ready for a top team. He is weak. Always blaming external factors. He cannot cope when things don’t go his way. He has received multiple yellow and red cards.
You could tell that Barca didn’t plan for this at all and frankly PSG was always going to force that red. Its like they discussed Araujo making those dangerous tackles.
Man can we have Paolo Maldini atleast as an assistant coach next season ??
Or he only does that for his club
I’m delusional but if pep wins treble this year too will he leave city?
We really can’t fight 4 shit. I guarantee u Madrid with 10 players and 1-0 up, would’ve parked the bus and held on 2 at least a draw.
Because we didn’t criticise when we had to, and we criticise when we don’t have to.
Most of the failures you show are the failures of Valverde, Messi, Suarez, Pique, etc. Back then it was a moment to criticise and ask for more because we had the best squad in the world and were the richest club in the world.
Today we are the club with the lowest budget in UCL behind Antwerp, we made it much farther than expected. This time it was time to support and believe in this project.
But we criticized Xavi’s project and we kept applauding Pique and Messi’s project.

Look at Real Madrid before Mourinho
Look at Liverpool with Klopp in his first few years
Because we have players who keep having bozo moments. I thought we got rid of those players but last nigbt was a good reality check.
It’s 100% mentality.
Next coach needs to be a psychologist.
Add Frankfurt in the EL, Bayern home twice in the GS and Juve in the GS.
These are enough examples in less than 10 years time to prove we’re just not a good team.
we are the biggest chokes in Europe. Sorry to say it but it’s true.
We don’t lack good players, we choke in big games when it matters the most.
we go out in style ig lol

Seems like shit like this only happens to us.
