Unfortunately, Clangers speak a tonal language, like, for example, Chinese (in its many varieties), Thai and Punjabi, where the meaning is dependent upon rising and falling tones, so this isn’t all that helpful. The BBC has actually badly let itself down here.
“Oh, sod it. The bloody thing’s stuck again.”
It is an Ofcom requirement for subtitles to be provided for terrestrial channels. Or like 95% or more of the programs on there. Kids shows often get more leeway on typing out noises so it’s more fun for the viewer
