  1. Sooo..outside of bitching and moaning, and two failed impeachments (the Biden one just fizzled to nothing), and the Mayorkas failure, what exactly have Republicans done that is to further advance meaningful legislation benefitting the American Populace? Anyone? Bueller?

  2. > “The Mayorkas-Biden policies have led to the worst border crisis in U.S. history,” said Senator John Thune of South Dakota, the No. 2 Republican in the chamber.

    > Others beat their desks as they called for a delay of the trial for two weeks, until next month or even until after the November election.

Such a huge crisis that after sitting on it for 2 months they now want to delay it for another 8 to 9 months..

Things must be really bad at the border at that level of urgency.

  3. “For the sake of the Senate’s integrity and to protect impeachment for those rare cases we truly need it, senators should dismiss today’s charges,” said Schumer, D-N.Y., as he opened Wednesday’s session.

Impeachment is a drastic measure. By drumming up a “case,” – AND by voting to dismiss both of the SERIOUS impeachment charges against Trump – the R’s have cheapened their stance.

  4. While this was the reasonable and proper thing to do this was a huge strategic plunder by democrats.

Holding a trial would have been a colossal embarrassment for the Republicans and would have shown how partisan they are when they vote convict or not.

Now that this impeachment has been dismissed without trial Republicans will do the same in the future and cite this as their justification for doing so.

  5. ‘Deep State wins again’ – average Republican voter

  6. Man the fact that this GOP talking point barely registered as a notification, is hilarious

  7. If you don’t even have enough votes (50) to go to trial, how are you going to get the 67 needed to convict? I’m not about to look this up, but I have a *feeling* all the senate trials that previously occurred did so because the side doing the impeaching had at least 50 votes in the senate. Republicans are just upset they don’t get to put their trial on to distract from Trump’s trial. They desperately want something else to focus on because they know what a bad look their own candidate being charged with 91 felonies is.

  8. And McConnell had the audacity to say the dismissal without a trial was “a dark day in the senate’s history.” What a fucking chode

  9. The Senate voted down articles of impeachment against Alejandro Mayorkas, deeming them unconstitutional and Democrats making clear that you don’t abuse impeachment because of policy disagreements.

In essence, preventing the disingenuous GOP from turning a “trial” into a partisan, and performative circus act, and a Senate chamber into a stage for political theatrics

Republicans would have made Joe Biden the focus of the trial, not Mayorkas, in an attempt to demagogue the immigration issue and provide Trump with campaign talking points by using incendiary rhetoric to give credence to sensationalist propaganda and conspiracy theories promoted by right wing trolls and fanatics on social media.

All while Republicans, at the behest of Trump mind you, recently voted against bipartisan immigration reforms that were unprecedentedly stringent, especially considering the support they received from democrats.

Many of these Republicans weren’t aware of the bill’s details before indiscriminately shooting it down for the sake of loyalty to their king

Now I ask, who’s engaging in the *actual* political persecution? The “Witch Hunting”..? The flagrantly partisan abuse of power?

Republicans desire immutable powers, in large part, so they can exploit their own authority and devote most of their resources, time and energy as well as taxpayer dollars towards these disingenuous, undemocratic, persecutory and antagonistic efforts. All while simultaneously crying about the endless indignities they suffer at the hands of the enemies they seem to want to constantly harass.

  10. Guess what the vote was? 51-48 with good ole Lisa voting present.

This is your millionth reminder that all of the Senates rules are made up and everything only needs 51 votes. Not this ridiculous 60 votes except for impeachment which needs 67.

Republicans know that and will give us nationwide abortion ban if they win.

  11. The modern GOP are nothing but a bunch of piddling sycophants pandering for Putin or Pooh’s funding (not like they’ll say no to bone saws when the price is right).

Worst of all, our media no longer has any real incentive to truth-tell. They now rely on normalizing fascist behavior to maintain ratings as they have fiduciary interests that Trump social concerns.

  12. This whole thing was utterly ridiculous from the start. A complete waste of the people’s time and money.

  13. What a waste of taxpayers time and legislative time.

The Republicans haven’t gotten a fucking thing done since they have been in office this term.

Absolutely fucking nothing except trying to maneuver a takeover of government and end democracy.

  14. Can anyone tell me anything Republicans have done in the last 4 years that wasn’t a complete and utter failure?

I realize that’s their Federalist wet dream, but jfc

  15. “Tabling articles of impeachment would be unprecedented in the history of the Senate — it’s as simple as that,” said Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the minority leader.

Mr. McConnell did not mention that he voted in favor of an unsuccessful Republican effort in 2021 to dismiss a second impeachment case against former President Donald J. Trump over the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol before the Senate held a trial.”

  16. Comer Pyle must really be butt hurt since his life’s work just went down the toilet.

  17. They’re trying to “look busy,” for their dimwit base, by rattling their rusty sabers.

  18. Republicans crying that this never happened before and they had a job to do and didn’t do it and on and on and on…

Second trump impeachment. Did they all just forget what the turtle did?

  19. This should be the first paragraph:

“Mr. Mayorkas has spent months essentially ignoring the case and continuing to work. He negotiated a border security deal with both Senate Republicans and Democrats that fell apart after former Mr. Trump opposed it.”

Mayorkas did his job, then Republicans sabotaged his job, because Trump told Republicans to sabotage Mayorkas’ job to make Mayorkas and Biden look bad. Republicans are literally responsible – intentionally responsible – for causing the border problem they’re accusing Mayorkas of causing.

    Republicans: Go impeach yourselves.

  20. Surprise, surprise. Yet another round of Republican theatre while the country suffers.

    Fuck Republicans.

  21. Well, he was brought forth without a crime so not a stretch to miss a trial.
