If you spell the word SOCKS out loud you’re actually saying “it is what it is” in Spanish.
And also I want to die.
Have to finish them when you can.
With the amount of chances we had on top of the possession and corners this is embarrassingly low.
The better team lost….
33 shots and 1 goal is the saddest part.
Just hilarious. Boys really should have shot.
We lost the tie when we subbed off Haaland in my opinion. One thing this competition taught me is that, no matter how shit your superstar is playing, you don’t take them off. It’s all about playing in moments.
I’m so sad rn. The worst thing is Chelsea has had our number this entire season. I really hope the boys can bounce back from this and finally beat Chelsea for once ffs
I’m loading up City v Madrid on kickoff on fifa and setting it to beginner
I think it was a good game from us but real were just very solid and well drilled defensively. I didn’t mind the way we lost out this time. Shit happens. Still in for a 4peat and FA Cup so no point lamenting this like it’s the worst loss on the planet after we’ve already won this competition last season.
This team needs a big rebuild. We have wingers that can’t cross a ball. We don’t play through the middle. We don’t utilize Haalands strengths at all. We push teams back into their box and just pass it around for 5 minutes until we get a corner.
Honestly, a great game, but we should have finished it off. Not finishing our big chances did us in. Madrid were defensively on point, let’s not minimize that.
Onto the next year.

XG is for peasants I’m sorry.
Bruno scoring from the halfway line and united having 0.1 xg sums up its usefulness.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda.
All this shows to me is that we only have ourselves to blame for not being clinical.
Well done to Madrid, who were.
People want to blame our loss on Bernardo or Kova missing pens or Haaland not scoring goals like he should. We just struggled to finish in general. Foden should’ve buried one but scuffs the shot, Kevin had a golden opportunity that he rarely misses and sends it into the stands. 30+ shots and 1 goal is inexcusable having the quality we have. Regardless, heads up, we have the Prem to win
Let’s look at the bright side –
No other English team left 😂
The prem is ours to take!
Doku is preforming awesome, Foden is coming into his own
Halaand has had a bad season but I’m sure pep will adjust our play style not again so we can utilize him better and now run around in circles for 30 mins before sending a shit cross
Knew that KDB miss in regulation would come back to haunt us
Madridista – congrats on a great 2 legged affair: it was epic!
Foden really scored a banger last game to miss a sitter and drop a stinker.
And what was up with pep not playing foden centrally for the first half?
My biggest issue is why did we spend the first 15 minutes just doing nothing? That played right into Madrid’s hands. Last year in the home game, we battered them from start to finish and this year, the gameplan was totally different.
It gave Madrid the footing they needed to get the lone goal they came for.
It’s just one of those days where the bounces didn’t go our way. And Madrid is one of those jammy clubs that are always dangerous. I thought overall the team played well, we just didn’t find our end product and had 2 poor penalties but that’s knockout football for ya. Sometimes it just isn’t your day. I’m disappointed but not devastated. Winning last year probably helps to be honest.
Petition to bring back away goals for only this tie
Our defense has cost us a bunch of points (and a spot in the Semis tonight) with their lapses. We’ve played 32 games in the league and have given up 32 goals while making 64 saves. Basically we give up a goal on every 3 shots on goal against.
If we scored at the same rate we concede, we’d be winning every match 4 or 5 to 1.
We just need to improve next season. We really need a KDB replacement, Rodri back up, a Doku style player for right side and Kyle Walker replacement.
I know we are reigning champions but this competition is just not us man 😭 every fucking year
Not the time or place to gatekeep, but anyone having a breakdown over this loss is not a real City fan. We’ve just won five trophies in a year and the fourpeat is on. We outplay 99% of our opponents. This is the golden age, let’s enjoy it 🩵
Simple equation; can’t let it get to pens. Had all the momentum on our side for 108 minutes tonight and that pendulum swung right back to center when ET finished. Can’t let that happen.
“You have to score the fucking goals, guys.”
Whenever RM wins in such a fashion (that‘d be around 80% of their victories in big games), you just wanna throw up as a football fan
Madrid fan here.
God, you guys are such a strong team.
Ffs stay away from us for a few years now.
Respect.
who decides who gets to kick the penalty shots?
Honestly, this city squad is a really good team in a transition period. We’ve done so well to be where we are.
Losing the experience, control, and goal contributions of Gundo and Mahrez, it will be a minute before we can truly replace their impact. We have a fair amount of younger or new players, and they will only get better.
Couple that, though, with both of our strikers falling out of form, and general squad fatigue from 2+ years of non-stop football, it’s incredible that we’re in the drivers seat in the Prem.
