Ukraine war briefing: Don’t stockpile your Patriots, put Ukrainian needs first, allies told

1. This is the start of a “Patriot coalition,” like the artillery coalition and the shell coalition.

   If every US ally that operates Patriot systems can shake one full battery loose and transfer it to Ukraine, that will give Ukraine half of what Zelensky says he needs. The US then needs to commit to backfilling those contributions in a timely manner. That will be hard and it will be risky for a time, but I believe it can be done.

   Meanwhile if the US itself can shake loose a dozen more batteries, that will be Zelensky’s entire air defense wish list right there. That’s a lot even for the US, whose Patriot deployments around the world are already stretched thin as it is. But it might still be doable.

   We all just need to be aware that the likely response from Russia’s … what do we call it?… constellation of semi-aligned nations will be to exploit this decrease in global air defense. These nations will try to sow fear and political backlash by overflying missiles like Russia has done with Poland. There may even be attempted missile strikes on US allies as a result.

   For those of us who support this kind of effort, it’s important that we make our support clear. And that we remember that it is not easy to muster this kind of coalition. Do not fall for propaganda that attempts to paint it as easy, and those who have not yet contributed therefore as lazy or fair-weather allies who wish to see Ukraine fail.

   All that crap comes directly from the Kremlin.

2. Honestly, why not shoot down Russian missiles and planes over Ukraine instead of Poland? Not that I believe the whole thing of “if Russia beats Ukraine, they’ll attack NATO” business. Still, better to wreck their military where it is.

3. Please do it. We have crossed almost all of their red lines and nothing happened. Don’t give ATGMs to Ukraine or we will retaliate! – we did and nothing happened. Don’t train Ukrainian soldiers on your soil or you will be legal targets – we did and nothing happened. Don’t give Ukraine modern tanks it will be act of war – we did and nothing happened. For god sake don’t give Ukrainians long range missiles or you will start WW3 – we did and also nothing happened. They are powerless because their main goal is to keep Putin alive (and rich) all other things like future of Russians are much less important. Nuclear war will kill this coward so he will not start it.

4. This war in Ukraine is gearing up the world for WWIII. Our ability to produce weapons quickly will need to be greatly increased.
