    its a good thing guns are already banned, wouldnt want the gangs shooting each other up over black market cigarettes.

  5. I hate these pseudo authoritarian laws that are getting increasingly popular among law makers. It shouldn’t be the governments decision to make those choices for people. The liberal way is to educate, to nudge and to tax.

    If we would want to ban every possible health impacting thing we would need ban almost everything and we wouldn’t really know where to start and where to end.

  11. Smoking bans are great. I love them. Having someone puffing up in your face at an open bar or in an outdoor area because they’re a degenerate sucks, it’d be great to not have to deal with that anymore.

    Is it a ban on tobacco products or a ban on nicotine products? Big distinction.

    There is comedy value though in some 40 something adult outside a shop asking a 70 year old to get them a pack of cigs.

Ban the production and tightly control the import, ban all advertisements for all drugs incl. alcohol, restrict consumption in public spaces and near children, make smokers pay income dependent additional fees for healths services calculated by the average risk by smoking and add preventative measures.
    Oh… and improve the material conditions of the people in a substantial way.
    People will still smoke, which is fine. But less, and even less will become smokers. The people that do smoke will pay more for health Insurance, cause they cost more in health insurance which is great. However, not so much that it becomes a poor-mans tax. Repeat the same for every drug.

  27. Good job too considering it contains over 7,000 chemical carcinogens and is responsible for the deaths of over half of the population that use it. I’m an ex-smoker of over 25 years and can’t believe how stupid I was to even think smoking was cool.

  38. An outright ban is a bad idea. I just want public spaces to be reclaimed from smokers. Can’t wait for a bus without getting hit by that fucking smoke.

  42. Anyone who has been in rehab or trying to recover from booze/drug misuse would lose their fucking mind if they ban tobacco. It’s a stupid little hobby but tobacco has a place in society and I’m very against moves to outlaw it
