  1. My retirement plan is death (I am late GenX). I can’t image having enough money to stop working, though I hope that occurs at some point. I really don’t think retirement is even going to be a thing commonly considered as possible in the next 10-20 years. Probably it will be just a thing rich people do. I suspect it was probably like that before FDR and the New Deal etc.

  2. It’s gonna be 50 for me.  If I have enough money by then, awesome.  If not, I guess I go out in a blaze of glory

  3. Anyone can retire at 60 if they start planning and saving early enough in their career. Many people don’t though. It has nothing to do with when you were born. Just another superficial clickbait story to make millennials feel more insecure.

  4. Is this headline posited on what’s known as a Strawman? I’ve met zero Millenials nor X’ers or even younger Boomers who’re saying they’re going to retire by 60. Sometimes it seems like some of these articles are fabricated just to stir shit. To be the cynic, it’s like saying, I want a unicorn that farts bubble-gum scented rainbows out it’s ass as propulsion…. but I’m NOT gonna get it…… wuh wuh. Oh the Huminity. Let’s write a sad strawman article about this. Not even many Silent Generation or Boomer retirees with full pensions retired at 60, even. The vast majority of workers just don’t, or, almost always— can’t.

  5. I don’t think this is impossible. I will say I think there’s a distinct choice between starting a family and wanting to retire.

Those who choose the former won’t be able to schedule the latter.
