Typical Northern Italian weather

  1. Okay. Now the Battle of Lake Trasimene makes a lot more sense. I always thought to myself “just how thick can mist be?”

    Apparently, visibility zero.

  2. My mother grew in a zone between Bologna and Ferrara that’s part of a longer area close to the Po river called “La Bassa Padana”, she told me fog could be so thick that sometimes if you were driving a car in the countryside the passenger had to walk in front of it to avoid falling into the ditch.

  3. So Assassins Creed was right? I always thought they made Forli look drab and foggy just to set the mood.

  4. Yeah, I’m in. Here we call it the “Nebbia Padana”. It’s a little awful (and for a little I mean a lot). Fortunately most of the time it disappears during the morning.

  5. Driving through thick fog is a very important life skill in the North. Every time some desperate driver starts to tailgate me in the fog because they’re lost, I do my best to lead them and really, really, really hope for the best.
