Mesut Özil: “In my era, El Clasico was the biggest game itw. Nowadays, the focus is more on Liverpool vs. Man City or Premier League games. But that’s not Real Madrid’s fault, they’re one of the best teams itw. Barça have declined. Barça should look more at itself & not always complain the referees”

This was peak football imo, the hype and drama of it all just made it so perfect
Ozil always simply puts it.
Barca is the only club that you can find similarities among the club president, the coach and the fans!
They all whine when we have a better season. Pushing all their youngsters to be the club new stars yet, most of them fail to do that. Any new youngster is a world class after 2 or 3 games!
It’s heartbreaking to say that RM has declined too, Barca way more though.
The 2011/12 and 13/14 were joy to watch, although three peat Madrid was not always consistent but that was probably the most successful Madrid of modern Era. We were the far better team against City in 2016 (the last time we were the better team than them in both legs) and would’ve probably blown them away on Wednesday if Carlo had his BBC.
Sadly the big teams like Bayern, Juve, Barca are not the same as before whilst City has become stronger than ever with their crookedness and corruption. No fucking way City had won UCL if any these European giants were as good as before.
Messi was really carrying the team lowkey
I 100% agree with Ozil.
That era was crazy tbh. Both Real and Barca scored 100+ goals a season for fun with both Ronaldo and Messi scoring more than 35 goals a season.
