1. There are entire industries focused on hunting deer. Of course they’ll deny the obvious. A prion is a fire proof self replicating protein and depending on the variables, the type of misfold can happen in a shared biological process between 2 difference species. It’s basically an inevitably that cwd will be transferred to humans. 

2. You just don’t randomly acquire prions. Confirmed these gentlemen died from it. It needed to be consumed. It is not in the beef cattle, but it is in the deer.

   Trying to tie knots and find some overlooked detail to confound those irrefutable facts is folly.
