I wouldn’t worry about peoples attitude. You could discover a cure for cancer, end all violence and solve world hunger all on a Friday afternoon and people would still find a reason to moan. Take it if you’re getting it. A good job was done by all but the government can’t pay everyone a bonus.

It’s fine, you pay taxes, if/when a tax increase to pay for covid comes like everyone is moaning about, you’ll be helping to pay it back anyway.
You deserve alot more, all frontline workers deserve a hell of a lot more. Unfortunately the government or business are avoiding paying, you got the token gift, just lucky it wasn’t a pizza party.

Anyway, I have no issue with it at all and was actually happy when I heard that it is to be paid to porters and other staff in the hospitals as well. If they had to work through it and were at risk of catching the virus, and in a lot of cases did catch it, then I have no issue with it whatsoever. Nurses in this country are criminally underpaid and under appreciated it would seem too. They put up with an awful lot & get very little thanks. I have to say anytime anyone I know has been in hospital for an extended period of time, they have always been very appreciative of the nurses. There’s a bunch of vocal begrudgers in this country and for some reason they get heard most often.
