  1. >State lawyers said in court filings Friday that the former president and his co-defendants — the Trump Organization and its top executives, including his two eldest sons — **failed to prove the surety Trump used to obtain the bond actually has the money to back it**

    Bold for emphasis.

  2. We, too, asks Trump civil fraud judge to declare $175M bond ‘without effect’.

  3. Lucky for him it happened on a Friday, so he’ll get to Monday then an additional 10 days or so to stall.

  4. can you charge the other guy with fraudulant paperwork too?

  5. Jesus Christ this guy just cant catch a break (from committing fraud and other crimes)

  6. tl;dr The state lawyers are *asking* the judge to reject the $175M bond. The judge hasn’t made a decision yet.

  7. Knight Specialty Insurance Company has a total policyholder surplus of just $138 million

This is $37M short of paying the bond and $315M short of the full penalty.

  8. Bond is no good and criminal trial for hush money on track. I don’t know about you guys but this is great news before the weekend.

  9. She’s tough and there’s nothing that makes him crazier than a smart, strong, black woman. His nightmare comes true. Let’s not let our nightmare come true.

  10. In just a few days we’ll be at the one month anniversary of the original bond due date (insert long sigh)…

  11. That’s going to get TFG mouth frothing on his cratering social media wanabee.

The plot(s) only thicken it seems.

  12. Proving that 4 generations of grifting means that there’s always another attempt to evade responsibility.

  13. Turns out you can’t just play the “pointing spiderman” game with various unconfirmed accounts and hope someone believes there’s $175 million? This puts a big dent in my plans to use fraud for my own goals.

  14. I have been following this issue on reddit but I know nothing about bonds and stuff so please answer this question for me … can Trump or Knight Specialty Insurance Co insist that the bond is valid and bring this matter to court to contest the AG?

  15. Monday is gonna be Funday for so many delicious reasons.

Who else has their popcorn ready?

  16. So, who’s job is it to verify this shit, originally?

Is this the process working as intended? I hand the court a fraudulent document, in my fraud trial, and unless the prosecutor goes through a month long process to investigate it themselves, it’s all good?

  17. All of this finally has to fold up, right? I mean Hitler thought he was untouchable by hiding behind the SS, and he still went down the way he deserved.

  18. So he caught another gift on the $475 million, but was still too cheap to pay $175 even while claiming he *had* $500 million cash on hand, so he set up a scam whereby he wouldn’t have to pay the $175 himself, but now the state has figured out he did it and he’ll go back on the hook. It would be funny if I didn’t know the next headline will be that Trump gets another gift, probably around $100 million this time.

  19. C’mon man. No one else would be getting away with this bullshit. Apply the law!
