MPs to vote on smoking ban
rishy sunak facing the prospect of a
backbench rebellion as his plans to stop
young people from smoking come before
the commons for the first time the bill
to make it illegal to sell tobacco
products to anyone born after the 1st of
January 2009 was one of three key
policies he announced at the
Conservative Party Conference last year
but libertarian Tory MPS have criticized
the ban so he may need to rely on labor
votes for one of his Flagship policies

Good. Big tobacco lobby showing its power here.
What happened to freedom of choice
Politicians have nothing better to do than interfere in peoples' enjoyment of their life.
No sense in this at the same time as legalization of drugs.
They should of never legalized it in the first place , it's a waste of money and health and it means nothing if you don't strip the profits of those that manufacturer it, they pushed it onto society knowing the harms
"In 2007, Prof Nutt and colleagues undertook a limited attempt to create a harm ranking system, sparking controversy over the criteria and the findings. The new, more complex, system ranked alcohol as three times more harmful than cocaine or tobacco." Quote from a previous BBC article. (No, I'm not in favour of banning alcohol. It's just the government's approach to substances shows little rhyme or reason. This isn't only a Conservative problem, Labour governments have also handled this badly. Decriminalisation and harm reduction is the sensible way to go, not a posturing "war on drugs" inherited from Nixon.)
How on earth can you police this.
Knock"knock" excuse me, young man. we have reasons to believe that you have been smoking a cigarette while watching East enders. " Yes, officer, you got me bang to rights. I admit it was just a quick drag. " ok, young man, let this be a warning to you. Next time, it will mean hard time at least 5 years. 😁(stupid government)
Control freaks il do what I whant u torys don't Control me general election now
Tobacco causes approximately 75,000 preventable deaths per year in the U.K and over 500,000 hospital admissions.
It’s a great policy decision but I am amazed that the super powerful tobacco lobby has allowed this be be introduced 🫢🏥🚬🔥
Ban coke cola and see what he thinks to that
Make it illegal and save lives cannabis is illegal so this absolutely should follow
Cigarette companies: lie to get people addicted to a harmful product
Tory MPs: this is good actually
The UK Government robbing everyone of their hard earned money is more healthy threatening than smoking on the long term
Rockets with big flames being fired across the globe killing hundreds of thousands and he is worried about cigarettes killing people when they are old enough to die any way. 😂
