Georgian MP punched in the face at dispatch box during parliamentary debate

MPs came to blows during a debate in parliament on a controversial foreign agents’ bill after opposition MP Aleko Elisashvili punched the leader of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Mamuka Mdinaradze, in the face during a speech. The bill, which would require organisations that accept funds abroad to register as foreign agents or face possible fines, has polarised Georgia and triggered mass demonstrations in early 2023.

  1. For lovers of free market, Georgia has been a model for more than a decade. This proposed bill aims to choke the market

  2. The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) (22 U.S.C. § 611 et seq.)

is a United States law that imposes public disclosure obligations

    on persons representing foreign interests.

It requires "foreign agents"—defined as individuals or entities

engaged in domestic lobbying or advocacy for foreign governments, organizations,

or persons ("foreign principals")—to register with the Department of Justice (DOJ)

and disclose their relationship, activities, and related financial compensation.

  3. I bet that the Akelo Elisashivillli is a lover of freedom and democracy, but he cannot respect the will of majority

  4. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Georgia gained freedom and independence, and plunged into complete poverty and darkness, in the truest sense of the word, there was no electricity in Georgia for 10 years, it is very funny that Georgians want to join Europe, why does the rich West need poor Georgians? There is no production or goods in Georgia, and Georgians have never worked in their lives, Europe, rejoice and meet the next millions of beggars

  5. Was it only me that found the bouncing white box on the test pattern entertaining? Amongst numerous things, it reminded me of bugs bunny tapping his foot, knowing something terrible was happening, but pretending to be oblivious 🐰🥕▫️
