For context: “Den Gamle By” (The Old Town) is a large open-air museum in the city of Aarhus. A large number of old houses/buildings (I think the oldest are from the 1500s) have been moved there from all over Denmark. Basically the museum demonstrates life in an old Danish market town. There are also some newer additions representing the earlier 1900s and the postwar era.
I’d recommend a visit if you’re planning to visit the non-Copenhagen parts of Denmark. It’s very hygge.

By means town. This word exists in English place names on the east coast as well as in the term by-law.
