  11. Slovenia is wrong. The first line is “Žive naj vsi narodi” (Long live all the nations), and žive means live.

    Unless this is too literal translation and it says “Let all the nations live.”

  20. Can someone explain how they got A for the Netherlands? The literal sentence is Wilhelmus van Nassouwe, ben ik van Duitsen bloed. Wilhelmus of Nassau (no idea how to translate that exactly) am I of German blood. In the entire sentence there is no mention of the word a, how did they get this?!?!?

  27. Incorrect. The first word of the polish hymn is “Jeszcze” which should translate as “not yet”.

    You took the first words in the TRANSLATION of the hymn, since the first line translates to “Poland has not yet perished”

    Ukraine basically has the same idea for the hymn, starting with “The glory of Ukraine has not yet perished”

    In both cases, don’t be so pessimistic bros.

  29. The Irish one isn’t right because the firdt word is Sine, but if yoy are saying it in English the first word is soldiers

  30. “Poland” is the first word in English translation, in polish our anthem starts with “Jeszcze”, which means “yet”. So instead of “Poland is not lost yet” literal translation would be “Yet Poland not lost”

  31. At first I read Portugal as “Herpes” and for a second couldn’t remember the actual first word of our anthem 😅

  33. The first word of the Greek anthem is not “I” (εγώ). It’s the accusative of the word “you” -> “σε” just another form of “εσένα”.
