Unite Cyprus Now: 4 years later

  1. If Turkish Cypriots wanted true **uni**ty the Cyprus problem would have been solved long time ago.

However they do not want us to be truly **uni**ted. If they wanted such thing then they wouldn’t have a problem with a **uni**tary state, where the whole island belongs equally to all Cypriots, and all citizens are equal without any kind of discrimination due to our ethnicity, language or religion.

What they actually want is as little unity as possible. A skin deep “unity” in name only, just enough to legitimatize the ethnic cleansing and the partition of our island into “Turkish north” and “Greek south” and maintain the discriminatory divisions among the population that were forced on us since the Ottoman era and benefit the few on the expense of the many.

The **Bi**-zonal, **Bi**-communal Federation is about *officially* **Bi**secting Cyprus in two.

We accepted BBF as a painful compromise, as mid point between unity and partition. If TCs also wanted unity then no such compromise would need to be made. And we would be willing to accept such a settlement, not because it would be so great, but because it could be better than the type of division we have with the status quo.

But not even this mid point was acceptable to the Turkish side. The kind of BBF that they want is so divisive, undemocratic, unjust and dysfunctional which would create a type of legalized division which is worst than the illegal division of the status quo.

So the TCs of “Unite Cyprus Now” and the idiotic GCs along with them, should spare us the bullshit that they are supposedly the ultimate “unity” supporters. What the TCs of “Unite Cyprus Now” want, and what the GCs of “Unite Cyprus Now” accept, is partition with a “unity” label on it.

  2. I’m on their side, but whatever one thinks of UCN, they’re brave, speaking up on controversial issues and knowing many people don’t support them. They’re not hiding behind a keyboard calling others idiotic.
