Russia doesn’t have capability to knock Ukraine out of war: Ex-US commander

3. And so all Ukraine has to do is stay in the game, and like what happened to the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, the war will grind down Russia…..

5. The fact is, this war is going to drag on for a very long time. And i think western countries are letting it. The money that was just approved is chump change. It’s not going to turn the tide in the war. It’s going to prolong it. The money will first need to be transferred to Ukraine and then Ukraine is going to have to find willing sellers of military equipment. That all takes time. The war will still be dead locked. Nobody will win. Russia cannot progress further and Ukraine cannot progress further.

   Reason western countries are letting it go on this way is because they are afraid of how Russia will react if their front completely collapses in Ukraine. Russia could become erratic. Probably even reach out to using nuclear bombs.

   Their only hope is that at some point Putin is assassinated or something. Then replaced by a more smarter leader who pulls out all troops out of Ukraine including Crimea and pay Ukraine what it is owed.

   Russia in the mean while is probably setting its sights on Trump willing the election. And if he does, Russia probably hopes he will fully give up Ukraine.
