There seems to be failures in every area of this government. They are not doing their jobs and need to go, its not like they got a maccies order wrong they are putting lives in danger surely there is some legal clause in the constitition that can get them removed /prosecuted?
What the actual Fuck
How the hell do you end up having 30 children go missing, that is an unreal level of failure by the state.
They could be trafficked for all we know and the government is going like “well we tried, oh well”.
Shocking as it is don’t forget that 2 years ago that number was up to 236
A Judge sent emails to Roderic O Gorman due to his concerns about this issue and what did Roderic O Gorman do? He deleted the emails, if that’s not sinister I don’t know what is. When are our government going to be held accountable? Missing children is a serious issue.
Jesus Christ. What does “in state care” mean? I’m not au fait with this area at all.
Does it mean in a state home? Or does it mean in the family home but Tusla is connected to them?
Edit: It looks like they get placed with a foster family, and then just run away from there. We have some really evil parents in this country.
19 of the missing 22 are asylum seekers.
How many came into ireland paperless, claimed to be u18 (while whether they are or not is questionable) and once they got into the country ran off to cash/black economy work?
Edit: also worth considering what the procedure is for children in international protection in state care vs Irish children in state care. It seems to be working out better for the irish children.
O’Gormless strikes again he is pathetic
Roderic O’Gorman should be fired
>A 17-year-old girl has been the subject of Garda missing person appeals six times this year — including twice in one week earlier this month
In all fairness, what are they supposed to do in a lot of these cases? They can’t lock them in at night and the vast majority are teens who just walk out because they’re sick of the place.
If I had been in state care at 16/17 I’d probably have done the same.
Mate of mine works in the houses for kids with behavioural issues, and it’s a serious issue she’s talked about. They have no actual power to restrain or imprison the kids, because they’re not guards and it’s not a prison, so the kids can just make a runner any time. Considering the common denominator in these houses *are* the behavioural issues, they’re constantly doing this, just abandoning the houses, taking busses to anywhere, meeting up with gangs, etc. and the people put in charge of caring for them have no ability to actually care for them.
They need to be given the actual authority and resources to be able to *do their goddamn jobs*, but the entire sector is so insanely bogged down with buerocracy and shitty working conditions that everyone is just trying to scrape by with their current workload, no ability to improve things.
I have a friend working in one of the residential homes with teens.
When a 17 year old misses their curfew time ie is meant to be home by 9 but stays out with their friends. They are reported as missing. This happens all the time.
Lots of kids are in some kind of contract with their actual families and sometimes stay with them for a few days but don’t bother letting the service know. Some kids stay with friends etc.
It would be very hard to get a figure that distinguishes any of this.
