Paris made a similar pledge years ago and my understanding is they’re on track to do it.

Mate you had 8 years already and crime has never been lower than the year before you came into office.
I’m sure not long ago the Thames was listed as one of the cleanest city rivers in Europe. Has this changed or are all the other rivers even worse ?

I love an outdoor swim, so this would be wonderful. I swam in the Cam a while back and was horribly sick for days. It’s absolutely criminal that water companies were privatised and then hollowed-out by shareholders.
After this from the Mayor, I wouldn’t be surprised if Susan Hall announced that the Thames was clean enough to drink.
I guess it helps when there’s a new massive sewer going operational next year that will solve a large part of the issue
I mean it’ll take decades for people to even think it’s clear enough again. I wouldn’t set a foot in for a long time just knowing how it smells and looks sometimes
