Russia storming Chasiv Yar: Number of military personnel involved in attacks revealed

1. Russian forces have concentrated their offensive actions on the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. Currently, over 20,000 military personnel are storming the city, reported Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the operational-strategic group Khortytsia.

   According to Voloshyn, Ukrainian troops near the town of Chasiv Yar are facing units from the 217th Airborne Regiment of the 98th Airborne Division of the Russian Airborne Troops.

   “Opposing us on the front line opposite Chasiv Yar are Russian paratroopers from the 217th Airborne Regiment of the 98th Airborne Division of Russia. It’s around 20-25 thousand Russian servicemen attempting to storm Chasiv Yar and the surrounding areas,” Voloshyn said.

   He added that Russia constantly and systematically assaults Ukrainian positions but fails to consolidate and retreats.

   “The Russian army does not give up attempts to capture the city, disregarding losses in both manpower and equipment. There are no enemy Russian forces in the city. Currently, the city is ours. The situation around the city is complex, but it is under control. Our defenders receive reinforcements and stabilize the front,” he said.

If Ukrainian forces hold their ground, Russia’s plans for a counteroffensive in June will be thwarted.

   Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing British intelligence, that Russian forces attempting to capture Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region are [employing tactics similar to those used in Avdiivka](https://newsukraine.rbc.ua/news/russians-employ-avdiivka-like-tactics-near-1713690390.html). Occupiers are dropping numerous air bombs in this area.

   50.000 were used for Avdiivka, a city with a pre-war population of 35.000

   Now 25.000 are being thrown against Chasiv Yar, a city with a pre-war population of 12.500

5. Most likely they’ll get it if they’re willing to do what they did in other places. They’ll have to flatten it and spent tens of thousands of men.

   Will they get it before 9th May? Strong doubt.

7. At least with American weapons on their way the Ukrainians can use more of their saved weapons immediately. Definitely need to get them some long range missiles to take out the bombers.

10. Why are the Russian people putting up with this? Tens of thousands dying just because the 3 day special military operation failed and the dictator can’t take the L.

    Their economy and demographics are being destroyed for a vanity project of a wannabe Peter the Great. Peter wasn’t great…he was just another butcher.

    This is the 21st century….if you want to do something great then invent something. If another country has something you want then TRADE FOR IT…that is MUCH cheaper than invading and trying to steal it.

13. Jesus why? Access, topo, control fire positions, time for defensive structures there is zero logical reason why they would be so aggressive.

    IMHO Russia probability does not have enough shoes for 20,000 soldiers storming a city.

    They certainly can not carry them in armored infantry vehicules. Or even in instead trucks.

    Please, at least make war claimed that could numerically actually happen.

    Unmounted infantry have no chance to Storm any defended position.

16. I’m guessing that this is an attempt to grand whatever territory they possibly can before the Western weapons arrive and shut down any possibility of gains.

    I also think that this is an attempt to make some kind of breakthrough, a hail mary.

    Let’s pray the Ukrainians can hold out until they get resupplied (and I mean that, go on, pray).
