A sad end to a sad story, that somehow felt inevitable.
I guess this was inevitable. I’m still not sure what I think. I don’t doubt for a minute he has significant mental health problems, but I do have issue that they re-appear when his conduct/behaviour is questioned.
That’s a shame. The way this was handled by the press (mostly the Sun – what a surprise) was appalling. Hope he’s doing okay.
This was a complete disgrace. Huw Edwards was an amazing broadcaster, hounded by the BBC and the Media after breaking no laws.
He was even cleared of doing that by the police.
People defend him but I’m sorry, being a newsreader for the BBC being paid £400k a year is an EXTREMELY privileged position. His personal reputation is very important given the job he’s doing. If you’re going to give thousands of pounds to barely legal boys in exchange for sexual content behind your families back, you simply can’t get caught. He’s not broken the law, but he has tarnished his image.
Easiest way for this to end, tbh. Saves a lot of hassle for both sides.
It’s just presenting the news. It doesn’t require “celebrity powers”. If someone left a normal job because they’d embarrassed themselves a bit, you’d forget about it within a week. I don’t know why we put these people on a pedestal.
I feel sorry for everyone involved that the entire nation got to rate his arse
That’s some heavy lifting there for “medical advice”

I hear he’s teaming up with Schofield on a new podcast aimed at youngsters entering the world of media .
Translation: “if you stay, the director will beat the shit out of you”
Gets paid ~£450k for no work for a year, then gold plated pension. Could be worse
It’s likely he’s exhausted his sick leave allocation – he’s probably still unfit to return, but even if he had recovered, the shadow of what happened last year likely ensured a return would not be possible, so resigning on medical grounds provides a graceful an exit as possible .
Sounds like a constructive dismissal law suit is on the cards
The whole point of this story is that a complaint was put in months prior and nothing was done about it. When the complaint was put in they should of suspended him upon further investigation which the BBC did not do! Nothing was done as per usual because he was the highest and looked upon news reporter as he wss given a report that any news reader would want to announce in the UK reporting the Queen’s death.
He may not of broke any law but the BBC should of done their job but of coarse they didn’t.
Good news, another BBC Creepo taken down. People focused too much on giving him a pass because he had been outed as gay when he had been harassing colleagues who clearly didn’t reciprocate
>claiming he paid a young person for sexually explicit images
Ah, first red flag from the BBC is euphemistic language to make the allegation more inflammatory. They are going to make us hunt down the age of this ‘young person.’
Completely different article and 1/4 way down the page before we get the the crucial information:
> BBC presenter paid their child tens of thousands of pounds for explicit photos over three years, beginning when they were 17.
Ok, so a 17 year old dude. Not a child.
>The Sun alleged that the presenter broke Covid lockdown rules to meet a 23-year-old, who he had met on a dating site.
My goodness, let’s just hang him immediately…
I feel like im crazy on this story.
Reddit pulls the “JUST A CHILD” shit when any man is in a relationship any girl beyond the 1/2+7 rule. But suddenly when one of the most famous tv presenters in the country, on half a mill a year starts a relationship with a 17 year, involving thousands of pounds and an age gap of ~40 years suddenly its “nothing to see here, none of our business, completely legal, why is everyone over reacting”.
Would it be such a scandal if he’d been paying for an OnlyFans girl rather than a boy?
