Trump tried to ‘corrupt’ the 2016 election, hush money prosecutor alleges in opening statement

2. Like a Russian. Trump makes a lot of people want to puke when he claims he’s an American.

3. Given the outcome, I’d say he succeeded.

5. His entire statement redirecting fault so hard he lost his point at the start of each new sentence.

8. Given the very obvious fraud he already committed in New York, I’m hoping the judge denies Trump first-time offender status and sentences him to jail time. I’m prepared to be disappointed yet again.

9. I wish the media and the general public would stop calling the proceedings the “hush money trial”. The crime is felony election interference, conspiring to commit a felony, conspiring to cover up a felony and falsifying business records. Calling it a hush money case, makes the crimes sound harmless.

10. Enough with the “Hush Money” moniker.

    The trial is not about hush money, it’s about election interference and tax fraud.

    Repeating “Hush Money” plays into Trump’s hands. He himself tries to reframe the trial as a ‘hush money trial” and since paying off Stormy Daniels is not illegal, he uses it to denounce it as a witch hunt.

    The illegal part is trying to hide the payment was a campaign expenditure. And this is proven as a campaign expenditure since Trump delayed the payment until after the election since it wouldn’t matter anymore. This means the payoff was only useful before the election and therefore was a campaign expenditure.

    Trump wants it to be a “hush money” trial so he can claim injustice and taint the 2024 elections.

15. Access Hollywood was disgusting. Small wonder he would do anything to keep Stormy and McDougall from coming out. He just can’t stand using anything but using other people’s money (political donors) to pay and he can’t resist screwing the Department of the Treasury out of tax revenue and leaves us stuck with that tab too.
