Pat’s co-led the Greens since 2008, this would be a massive shift for the party. I don’t see anyone, besides maybe Maggie Chapman, with the experience to replace him – maybe some Green members that post here might though. Perhaps it’s an angle to sway the vote, but the guy has been in the leadership for longer than most at 16 years now. Taking his party from opposition to their first government (regardless of your opinion on it) is not a terrible legacy to end it on.
As Tenant’s Right’s minister, though, I feel he’s been cowardly and has definitely made the relationship with Living Rent a lot less amicable. A lot of people in the org feel betrayed by the weak housing regulations replacing the rent freeze and will be less trustful of the Greens in the future.
Talking about the vote on the BHA – we’re reportedly to hear the date and time announced at 9pm tonight, according to Hamish Morrison.
The guy is a z list actor. Take away those gimmick glasses and he’s just a stooge.
Thank fuck, don’t let the door hit you on the arse on the way out…..
Byeeeeeee ✌️
Who’s meant to replace him? He’s a smarmy prick, but at least he’s a smarmy prick with some half decent leadership skills (since he’s been at it since 2008). Andy Wightman would have been a good shout had he not got turfed out a few years ago, as would Alison Johnstone had she not been elected Presiding Officer. The only other people left who I remember are Chapman and Greer, both of whom are even more deranged than Harvie.
Good news for Scotland
And people say he isn’t just there for the paycheck
