@HumzaYousaf The UK Government’s decision to extend Horizon legislation to every nation in the UK except Scotland is scandalous. The fact the Tories are willing to use Scottish victims of the Royal Mail’s Horizon system as a political football is unforgivable. The PM must change course.

  1. But we have a different legal system to England and Wales and therefore our prosecutions would’ve been led by different people under a different system?

    That is, unless Humza wants us to have the same legal system as the rest of the UK

  3. Shut up. The response from the UK Government was absolutely correct and no doubt people would be whinging if the UK Government had just imposed this directly.

    Also, it was the Post Office, not Royal Mail. That and the rest of Humza’s inane rantings being painfully ironic.

  5. As I posted elsewhere, he’s had a political shocker here.

    The PO are in the dock, not the RM, as he states.

    His own Lord Advocate [see the other thread] has been opposed to blanket quashing. She wants Scotland’s appeals system to do the heavy lifting. Which, FWIW, I am on board with. Those post masters were tried and convicted in Scotland’s courts after all.

    On a wider point….make up your mind, Humza. Do you want Westminster to legislate on Scotland’s behalf or not?

    On a related note, why is the LA and COPFS being so reluctant to reveal the details of their meetings with the PO between 2013-2015?

  6. Absolute fanny. The prosecutions in Scotland were done under a totally different legal system, or is Yousaf seriously begging Westminster to pull sovereignty and impose direct rule?

  8. Isn’t the Scottish judiciary seperate and thus have to deal with it seperately? Yet another knee jerk, “Westminster is evil” comment. Maybe an attempt to district from *insert latest .S.N.P. screw up here*?
