I was out hiking in Glendalough the other day and this deer came up to me when we stopped for lunch, it hung around for about 40 minutes on and off, managed to get this photo of it.

  1. That’s a shifty looking motherfucker. Looking at you like you just ran over Bambi’s mum.

  2. Was there a few months back and there was a red deer sitting around at the miners village. Everyone thought it was sick, because usually deer are don’t like being around people, but according to the park ranger, it was doing fine and being so accustomed to seeing hikers was happy to chill in their presence.

  3. I’ve seen a deer there too maybe last August and it came up to me and was eating grass out of my hand, used to it with all the people walking there each day I imagine

  4. Little safer for them now, culling season is mainly over

See the new fawns around May/June… Really cute, loads in forests around Wicklow

  5. Yeah the ones up the valley have become desensitised to humans and don’t really run or move anymore.
Theres so many now it’s becoming difficult to avoid them around wicklow .

Edit : as avoid them driving, in your garden etc

  6. Great photo. Was that the only one you saw throughout the hike?

  7. Great photo. I love that walk. If you go early in the morning to avoid the crowds

  8. Funny how nature wants to be friends with you when there’s lunch.
