  1. It looks like OP posted an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot).

Maybe check out **the canonical page** instead: **[https://thedriven.io/2024/04/18/toyotas-plug-in-hybrids-emit-four-times-more-co2-than-company-claims/](https://thedriven.io/2024/04/18/toyotas-plug-in-hybrids-emit-four-times-more-co2-than-company-claims/)**

  2. There are only two angry fanatic Teslarati in this sub. They show themeselves easily.

  3. Honestly idk why there’s shock when car companies lie about their products, it happens constantly. Almost like it should be fact checked or something

  4. Just noting here that PHV is different from “regular” HV cars. AFAIK, most of cars out there are HV.

Also I wonder if this study took account of how many owners of PHV cars actually utilize the “plug-in” feature. I’d assume the emission would be high if the battery weren’t charged on daily basis.

Not to discount the severity of the new finding though. 4x sounds questionable.
