Lithuanian, other MEPs urge Brussels to look into security of Chinese smartphones

  1. About 10 years too late. EU should’ve encouraged customisaion in the OS. Then only HW concerns would be left.

  2. I’m convinced that the american government is in a secret deal with the Lithuanian one where they get something in exchange of pushing the anti-China agenda.

    Nothing else makes sense.

  3. I found preloaded Malware/Spyware on a Meizu phone a few years ago by digging into an OS process and analyzing the traffic. Not exactly sure if it was cabable of anything more than a little bit of classic spying that is pretty common for Chinese phones. That behaviour was was witnessed in the “International” OS Version. Not In the Chinese one.

  4. Fair enough, but they should look into the security of smartphones made in other non-European countries too. Preferably, the EU should look to be self sufficient in producing smartphones.

  5. The Lithuanian government has an unhealthy obsession with China, a country that has very little time for it. It feels like they just wake up each morning and go through a brainstorm session of what they can come up with that’s anti chinese and give it a rating by U.S likes.
