  1. A man of conscription age went abroad, showed his state that he does not care about its survival, and then comes and wants to receive services from this state. It does not work this way. Our country is at war,” Kuleba said.

–so what services are being denied or suspended?

  2. People needs to understand that there are some mens who dont wanna fight, we saw enough, learned enough to know that.
If a country is that stupid to not see that and Just force the mens for fighting i dont think its the best idea.

  3. What a nice present for Russian propaganda. Zelensky’s administration really is pathetic. Pure spite, this is what it is.

  4. Egyptian all inclusive hotels are full with drunk military age ukrainan men. If Ukraine wants more soliders just go there for them…

  5. I mean… If you flee the country in war, don’t come back when it’s over, it’s that simple.

  6. They need to force the rich one’s back. I’ve read so many times about nice cars, all over Europe with Ukrainian plates.

Why should it just be the poor who fights for sovereignty all the time?

  7. this is where i noticed how very different people are. and i mean that in a respectful way.

for me, and i and have an quite bad view on politics and politicians, a call to arms by an politician instantly triggers me to think instantly that some old white male dude is asking me to risk my life to protect his assets and whatever he calls his way of life. “why is he not on front line?”

i pay taxes and that is kinda the transaction i do with the state that i am begrudgingly fine with. heck, i don’t even really know my neighbour better than most of the russians. why would i risk my life or ask anyone to risk their lives to protect that or some lands? i don’t want to live with the burden that i killed someone. why do these politicians think that can do that? i probably rather shoot my foot than at an opposing soldier. and all for what? so some politician can make a monument of themselves? who remembers the name of any idiot who was chanting for hitler, mussolini or whoever? and who will remember any russian or ukrainian who are dying, except as a death toll number?

these people who are voluntarily going to war, i am truly at awe, at the same time disgusted, by them. willing to die and kill – eliminate or be eliminated – for the – at least for me – abstract concept of land and freedom.

  8. What if someone prefers living under russia then dying in war? Is it morally justifiable to tell people to give their life for war?

  9. Isn’t this misogyny? Why should only men be allowed to fight for their country, every military age women also have equal responsibility in protecting their country and denying them this right is very patriarchal.

  10. Well. Yeah. Every able citizen should be eligible in the defense of their country.

  11. All these comments about how to make life difficult for someone who just doesn’t want to fight and die, are just disgusting.
Only wealthy Americans can dodge Drafts and employ mercenaries to fight wars because Draft is unpopular for politicians.

  12. A nation that can’t muster enough volunteers probably isn’t worth saving. Kind of funny that they do this after they get their money from the US because they know how bad it looks to force their frightened citizens to be cannon fodder. Don’t give me the but Russia shit. I think we should stipulate Ukraine to be more civilized than Russia if we’re going to financially support them.

You see how hostile the Ukrainian officials are towards the people who left? What do you think they’re going to do as soon they get conscripted? Do you think the battle hardened soldiers who think these men are cowards are going to work hard to keep them safe like the colleagues they’ve worked with this whole time or are they just going to use them to draw enemy fire or frag the guys themselves? This is not Ukraine trying to save itself. It’s an attempt to punish their citizens who fled. We already saw how brutal Ukraine was to their citizens who didn’t want to fight in the early days of the war? Remember guys being tied to telephone poles and beaten in front of everyone??
Like I said,  it’s very interesting they they waited until they secured the bag to show us more of who they are.

  13. Human rights groups are very silent on this. Specially women rights groups, equality all the way no?

  14. that’s weird move, nonsensical in terms of damage control.
surely you need as much men back as possible, what is the size of your pool? is it worth efforts?
does it have any sense to create so much trouble to X people for possibility to get back Y men?

  15. If the Russians win, they won’t have any consular services either.

  16. Overstaying will be the norm. If caught, prison abroad might be a better option, unbelievably.

  17. So, a country of 47 million, has to scrap for its citizens abroad for soldiers? You cannot draft 1 million Ukrainians in Ukraine, so you have to bring them back from Oregon or Ivory Coast?

  18. Forcing people to go fight & die is never the answer & besides the point we don’t know if they’re helping in other ways like donating money, sending supplies, etc. That’s just as vital

  19. This is why one never has true freedom with only one citizenship. You are too at the whim of one government.

  20. Now just imagine if Russia says that every military-age Ukrainian man is welcome to live and work, and more importantly, don’t be forced into an attrition war in Donbass.

Many will prefer a bad life in Russia to a very possible death in the front.

Russia, on the other hand, is going just to profit from this situation, more population and fewer Ukrainians in the front.

Not a very smart decision from the Ukrainian government.

  21. I thought Ukraine only lost 30k. Why would they need more military age men?

  22. I am beyond disgusted with so many comments here. It’s so easy to be a hawk when it’s not your head on the line.

Many, many Ukrainians do not feel they have anything to fight for. Ukraine, just like Russia was and is and will be (for the foreseeable future) a nation that absolutely does not care for its citizens. Corruption is through the roof (you can leave the country easily, just pay…), pay was always low, healthcare is crap. Everyone works on the black market because your pay is so low that putting a tax on top can cripple you financially.

Why should these people who their country has given nothing to want to fight?

I’m Polish, and it’s very important to me that Ukraine keeps its sovereignty because I don’t want more of Russia on the Polish border. Saying that, I would never, ever tell anyone they should fight. It’s their own conscious choice.

And let’s ask ourselves, what if a Ukrainian family left 16 years ago with a 2 year old child, but they did not acquire citizenship yet? The kid grew up in a different country, just turned 18, has almost no ties to his birthplace… should he be forced to fight?

    You’re all entitled tools.

  23. Drafting woman would be way more effective to get more soldiers but no, out of some archaic gender role thinking they rather try to get emigrants, even those who left well before any war started.

  24. Drafting women would be easier than dragging back people that left.

  25. The feminist movements that certainly like to use “feminism is about equality” whenever someone points out that they’re very much not about equality have been real quiet since Ukraine dropped this track
