The only places on Earth where this would never happen are uninhabited islands. People still are people. Finland is just much safer overall than most places. Doesn’t mean it’s crime free.
Never leave anything in clear view inside the car.
My mom lives in the countryside and I often have to berate her for not locking the car doors or even leaving the keys hanging there when she goes to do some shopping. Just because it’s rare, doesn’t mean the chances are zero.
Where ?
My colleague’s car was broken into in Punavuori, and I saw some posts on FB about this happening, for example, in Ruolahti
They do sell insurance policies for these kinds of incidents so this is possible in Finland too. This country is not crime free.
At least they were nice enough to break only the smallest window.
I was very lucky, I was doing good delivery and I often left the car window open and car running , no one even in night took the car, maybe because it’s Helsinki,
Social nuisance being nuisance. Nothing extra ordinary. Â
