The more coverage I see, the more I question whether JD will face court for this. He’s so well known, that it will be nigh-on impossible to find 12 people who are not aware of who he is.
Not to say that the coverage isn’t justified, he’s a political leader after all, but it raises serious questions about the legal system here.
I feel awful for his daughter, but it’s moreso a damning indictment of the justice system that means if you’re (in)famous enough, you’ll get away with it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if JD releasing the news that it was him being accused was a calculated attempt at ramping up media coverage and destroying his chance at a fair and impartial trial. Which, under the current justice model (and rightly so) means that no trial at all can take place. He gets away with it.
I feel as though the options here are limited, though I wouldn’t be surprised if his lawyers push for a quick trial, as his JDs right (limiting the ability for the PPS to prepare a solution) and them potentially flying in 14-18 jurors from England/Wales where he has much less of a reputation.
