Presumably, Barcelona are offering Xavi to have Domènec Torrent as the assistant coach.

  1. Sounds great, Xavi could use more help from staff that are experienced.

  2. Xavi’s team for sure needs more experienced members. Forgive the conspiracy theory, but this reminds me of laporta replacing other staff in the club with people he is familiar with.

  3. If it is a replacement of Oscar Klopp I don’t think he will agree removing his own brother from the job when he was hesitant to stay in the job in the first place

  4. “Fire your brother and hire the guy that used to work with the legend you feel intimidated about”. I think Laporta wouldn’t mind if Xavi left. Me neither actually but let’s see how this plays out, I’ve got a lot of respect for Domènec, he’s mad about his job and knows perfectly what the Masía is capable of. If Xavi stays under this conditions next season might be more interesting than I thought.

  5. Domenec was manager for flamengo a couple years ago.

After a couple months here the team started playing good atacking football, tho the defense was terrible.

He had a shit mentality, like thinking losing 5-0 was “ok”.

He was quite bad here overall honestly, with the best squad in america mind you.

    Tho the circumstances were terrible:

Arrived 2 days before the first match

    Empty stadiums

Gabigol was fat in the first couple of months

Recently signed CB duo at the time were 2 clowns

  6. We crave Man city’s experienced and senior people while they crave our talented and young players. The fact that we have to rely on Man city so much makes our declination feel even more real. Back in the days, it’s the other way. What a turnaround… Fortunately, there is still the academy.

  7. He has been assistant manager of Barça Atlètic, FC Barcelona, FC Bayern and Man City

He has managed UD CASSÀ, Futbol Club Palafrugell, Palamós C.F., Girona FC, New York City FC, Flamengo and Galatasaray

  8. Why not make him Flick’s assistant coach? Flick did make the effort to meet him

  9. He was pretty good at NYCFC haven’t followed him since he left us but I’ve been hoping he’d come back because Nick Cushing is not the right man.

  10. Sounds like Laporta already has a succession plan in place. If Xavi wants to leave in 2025, Torrent will be an option.

    Win win imo!

  11. I had already commented this somewhere else but I’ll copy and paste it here:

“And have supposedly offered Xavi to hire Domenic Torrent (Pep’s ex assistant back in Bayern and City before going solo)
How is that for an upgrade? Blood is blood but business is business.

Word for the younglings here. Never go into business with a family member or work for them. Unless your relationship is extremely solid and comprehensive, oh, and extremely solid and understanding . There will be issues down the line. And then an ugly fight breaks out and family ties are broken all over something insignificant.

That’s my personal motto at least. I’d rather have problems with strangers than my own blood.“
