Zullen we de servers upgraden? Nee, maak gewoon een wachtrij, dan voelen de mensen zich weer zoals vroeger aan de loketten…

  1. I think something might have gone wrong with the site sending mails making a lot of people log in to check it. I got a mail that there is a new message and when I could finally open my e-box, it just says that I got an ‘aangetekend schrijven’ but there is not a single document in my e-box anymore.

    EDIT: I can now see my old documents again but no new document to be seen. Maybe they fucked something up during the update that they announced for today.

  2. Upgrading servers is expensive though. Especially if you only need peak capacity for an hour a week.

    It would probably be better without that bullshit SMALS intermediary leeching.

  3. If you’re in the wachtrij on e-box you’re probably not in a hurry, if it was important, you would have heard otherwise !
    But I jest..

  4. Got a cliënt today who asked me about this. Turns out it’s from clicking a link on a scam email. Pay close attention to the domain name. If it’s:

    * extension: bosa.fgov.be
    * mycitizenebox.be instead of myebox.be

    you should probably remove it and run an antivirus check.

    You can say alot about the Belgian government but their online applications are often decent quality. An online queue is a red flag. (yeah, i know about the vaccination website queue. just double check)

    edit: check [this](https://www.belgium.be/nl/nieuws/2021/my_e_box_nieuwe_phishing_e_mails_omloop)

    edit2: as mentioned below, there’s quite abit of confusion. Please take this post and any email with the appropriate skepticism and prudence.

  5. I blame horribly inefficient code. Too many unnecessary abstractions, poor concurrency design, general laziness.

  6. the advanced queueing software probably cost a fortune. It’s part of the government metaverse now.

  7. And don’t forget! When you log into this thing everything about taxes and general government-“bills” don’t come through the mail anymore but trough your inbox!
