  1. *”My god what idiocy at the head of government!” ejaculated Holmes, pulling the syringe from his arm having filled it with his morning dose of cocaine*

  2. There’s probably more logic in that headline that meets the eye…wasn’t it Sherlock Holmes that said the following…”in the absence of evidence to the contrary, then the obvious is probably true”. Seems to apply well to partygate.

  3. From Sam Coates:

    >Multiple sources confirm Boris Johnson didn’t tell his cabinet of the police investigation *despite knowing before cabinet started the announcement was imminent* This has caused Cabinet incredulity, I understand. No10 says it was too “sensitive” to share with cabinet

    >Is the report by Sue Gray going to be delayed? “The investigation being carried out by Sue Gray is continuing. “There is in ongoing contact with the Metropolitan Police Service.” So not clear More

    >Sue Gray’s investigation has triggered a police investigation into Downing Street parties Whitehall was alerted at the end of last week Cabinet still in No10

  4. If I remember the stories corectly, he would have found this case tediously uninteresting and wouldn’t have taken it.
